NHS GP Services
At Milton Medical Practice we offer a very wide range of NHS GP services.
We hold a contract with Lothian NHS Board to proved Primary Medical Services under Section 17c of the Primary Medical Services Act 2004
These are some of the health services we can provide you with:
· General medical services 8.30am – 5.30pm daily (Monday – Friday)
· Extended hours access for General Medical Services 7.00am – 8.00am for pre-booked appointments (Monday – Thursday)
· Chronic Disease Management – Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Coronary Heart Disease and Hypertension
· Investigations – including access to laboratory and radiological procedures
· Minor Surgery (Thursday am) by prior arrangement with doctor
· Treatment for warts and verrucas (Friday pm – by appointment)
· Maternity services
· Contraceptive services (including coil and diaphragm fitting). We also now offer a service for the new long acting Implanon contraceptive device
· Cervical smears (all women between 20 – 60 years should have a smear every three years)
· Travel health service
· Child health surveillance (Tuesday and Thursday pm)
· Child immunisation (Wednesday pm)
· Private medical examinations (by appointment)
· Medical examinations for special purposes (e.g. HGV licence, pre-employment etc.) Ask at reception for details of fees
· Some forms require a doctor’s signature (e.g. insurance claims etc.) Ask reception for details of fees
· An annual flu immunisation programme to protect elderly and
at risk
